The past week in New York City and then Brighton Beach on Long Beach Island have brought back a flood of teenage memories for both Steve and me. My family used to have a little summer place on Barnegat Light and Steve’s folks have relatives near Harvey Cedars. We have been strumming ukes on the beach, taking walks and eating a lot of barbeque and ice cream on hot summer days. Home to Olympia on Sunday and then we head for Healdsburg, California to teach art, music, songwriting, singing and uke for a week at Bishop’s Ranch. A good time to wax nostalgic as we look ahead. Savoring the heat before the season turns, grateful for family, friends and harmony in a tricky world.
